Edgecomb City - Both Historical and Modern
Named after the British Lord Mount Edgecomb, the Edgecomb city actually came into existence in 1744 and was incorporated as a city in 1774. It lies in Lincoln County. Edgecomb map draws on the southern part of Licoln County. It is situated upon the peninsula formed by the Sheepscot and Damariscotta Rivers. The famous Fort Edgecomb is a worth visiting place in the city. Irregular surface pervades the entire area as there are alluvial gorges and hills. The highest peak is known as Mount Hunger. Crystal pond is a great attraction which covers an area of 100 acres.
\"Rosicrucian Spring,\" A mineral spring in this town has also earned a lot of appreciation from the tourists. A principle producer of ice, Edgecomb city produces mainly hay, barley, oats and potatoes. Brick making is another important business in this city. Many of the localities are there which carry on this profession. Fort Edgecomb is an excellent piece of architecture that attracts every visitor to this town. A church built in 1783 is also a famous spot the tourists pays a visit. The city has a library which contains more than 300 volumes.
The Congregationalist and Methodist have their own church in the city. Several public schools and amenities serve the inhabitants of the town very well. This city has several historical heritages to offer to the visitors. Besides the fort Edgecomb constructed in order to protect the Maine coast in early 1800, many barracks, old officer quarters and store house are there to be explored for the facts. One can have a great picnic at the waterfront.
