Famous Basketball Stadiums - Alamodome
Youve seen the games on television, and maybe youve even been to an NBA professional basketball game at one or more of the venues they use. But youve always wondered about the history of some of the more well known stadiums used by the NBA. There are so many, its difficult to pick just a few to talk about, but this article will give you a good head start.
The Alamodome in San Antonio opened on May 15, 1993, and though it is a multipurpose facility, it was known as the home of the San Antonio Spurs until they moved to the AT&T Center after the 2001-02 season. They played a total of nine seasons at the $186 million facility. The stadium seats about 20,600 in its arena configuration, but the seating can be expanded to hold up to 36,500 spectators. The Alamodome includes 38 luxury suites and 6,000 club level seats. The only professional sports team in San Antonio are these Spurs.
Is it no wonder the San Antonio Spurs are such a successful team? Starting from when they had the Twin Towers to now having Manu and Tony Parker. They keep reloading and get better. Stadiums bring great fan support and in turn bring a great team.
