What to Look for in a Full Coverage Car Insurance Quote in New Hampshire
If you live in New Hampshire and you drive a vehicle you may be surprised to learn that the state may not require that you buy car insurance at all. As long as you have a clean driving record, the state of New Hampshire is one of just a small handful of states that permits its citizens to drive on its public roads without purchasing car insurance.
That doesnt mean that New Hampshires street are filled with uninsured drivers. Many people finance their vehicles, and lenders do insist that cars purchased with their money be fully insured.
And keep in mind that New Hampshire only extends its no-insurance-needed rule to drivers with a clean driving record.
New Hampshire drivers who have been convicted of DUI (Driving Under the Influence) or who have been convicted of DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) must purchase car insurance for a minimum of 3 years if they want to legally drive on New Hampshire roadways. Any driver convicted of a second DWI or DUI offense will have to shell out for 5 years worth of car insurance.
New Hampshire also has a point system in place to catch drivers who commit lesser offenses. Points are earned for such things as speeding and running stops signs. Once you have collected sufficient points on your driving record you are then forced to buy car insurance.
If you finance a car in New Hampshire you will need to look for full coverage car insurance. Full coverage insurance includes liability insurance for a minimum of 25/50/25. What this means is that you must purchase liability insurance that at least covers $50,000 for medical expenses for all persons involved in an accident, with a maximum of $25,000 for any individual and an additional $25,000 for property damage.
Depending on the value of your vehicle your insurance company may require that you carry higher limits.
You will also need uninsured motorist coverage (UM insurance) in the same amount as your liability insurance (25/50/25). Again, your lender may require you to carry more insurance.
You will also need to carry comprehensive and collision insurance. Comprehensive insurance protects your vehicle from vandalism or from acts of God such as hail or wind damage. Collision pays for the repair of your vehicle should it be damaged in an accident. The amount of each insurance that you will be required to carry will vary according to the value of your vehicle.
Each type of insurance has its price and its price can vary depending on how much coverage is purchased.
One way to keep costs under control is to increase your deductible. A deductible is the amount of money that you agree to pay toward any claim before your insurance company is asked to make any payment. Obviously the more you are willing to pay (in other words, the higher your deductible) then the less your insurance company will need to pay for a claim and so the lower your monthly premiums will be.
In order to find the best possible price on your full coverage car insurance you will need to go online and find at least three different websites that let you make side-by-side comparisons between different car insurance policies from different insurance companies.
Dont skimp. Take your time and fill out the forms on at least 3 different comparison websites. The reason for this is because no one website compares all of the different insurance companies which write policies in New Hampshire. So by looking at comparisons from at least 3 different websites you can feel confident that you are seeing comparisons from all of the insurance companies operating in the state.
By taking the extra time to compare coverage at 3 different sites you can feel confident that you really are getting the best possible deal on your full coverage car insurance in New Hampshire.
