Your Propane Tank on Your RV

Most all recreational vehicles use LP Gas for heating the motor home, heating the water and for their refrigerators too. Having a large LP Gas container is the best policy especially if you do a lot of dry camping; not hooked up to anything such a sewer, water, electricity, etc. For the past five years I have been dry camping and not hooked up to any such amenities. Truly living off the grid with the help of some solar power, LP Gas and diesel fuel to power up an Onan Quiet Diesel 7500 generator.

While in Canada, Alaska and some of the Northern Continental states in the US, you need to have heat to prevent from living in a portable igloo, which could allow you to freeze to death. Thus it makes sense to have a large LP Gas Tank to hold the propane for many days of heating the water, portable houses and running the fridge, although sometimes when it is that cold you could just as well leave the darn door open? I mean it makes you wonder if Global Warming is some sort of joke or something?

When filling your LP-Gas tank never fill it past the green zone and make sure the propane is turned off. Propane tanks have floats inside and when you fill them up the float triggers an automatic shut off, you will know when this occurs by the escaping gas hissing on the relief valve or OPD Overfill Prevention Device. When filling use caution and be smart, do not smoke or allow anyone smoking to stand near by. Do not fill the LP Gas when people are inside the coach either. Please consider this in 2006 and safe travels to you.
